This job involves selling underwriting for KNTU radio and advertising for KNTU's North Texas Streaming Network and the North Texas Daily (print and digital) which are student media organizations at the University of North Texas.
KNTU is housed in the Department of Media Arts in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Its studios are in the Radio/TV/Film & Performing Arts (RTFP) Building on the University of North Texas campus in Denton. KNTU is licensed to UNT and is on the air 24 hours, every day of the year, broadcasting with 100,000 watts at 88.1 FM. The station’s primary format is alternative rock and uses the moniker “indie;” a secondary format of jazz is streamed via kntu.com and will become 88.1 HD2 soon.
The North Texas Daily Student Media is housed in the Mayborn School of Journalism at UNT, yet operates independently of the journalism school. Since 1916, the NT Daily has provided information, commentary, and entertainment for UNT and the North Texas community, and striven to promote accurate and ethical real-world experience for students within the journalism and business communities.
This job will require generating sales for the two university student media organizations in different departments. She or he will also manage students and help them learn effective sales techniques, including presentations to prospective clients, and create pricing guidelines while developing strategies to increase leads and generate revenue.
